Microchannel Technology
A flat-tube heat exchanger brings fluid passages, fins and headers into one core.
Construction
Flat tubes contain multiple small passages. Fins sit between the tubes, and headers connect the tube ends to the circuit. The layout determines which passages share a flow path.
How heat moves
Heat travels between the fluid and tube wall, through the metal and fins, and into or out of the air. Air distribution and fluid distribution both matter; adding area does not automatically solve a flow imbalance.
Circuit design
Pass arrangements and header geometry affect the flow path. Selection must consider pressure drop, operating range and the intended condenser or evaporator duty.
Benefits and limitations
Compact passage geometry can reduce internal fluid volume. The actual system charge and performance still depend on the whole circuit. Fouling, corrosion exposure, drainage, repairability and application conditions must be reviewed separately.
